What Is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
Artificial intelligence has become part of everyday technology. From mobile applications and laptops to microcontrollers and smart devices, many products now use AI to perform tasks that previously required explicit instructions for every possible input.
Because AI can learn from data, it can identify human language, recommend products or places, and support advanced applications such as autonomous driving. These capabilities do not mean that every task is fully automated, but they do make software more adaptive and useful.
Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science focused on building systems that emulate aspects of human intelligence. AI allows computers to learn, reason, make decisions, and solve problems with limited direct human intervention.
Common areas of AI include:
- Machine learning
- Deep learning
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Computer vision
- Reinforcement learning
- Robotics
- Speech recognition
AI made significant progress around 2024, especially with the continued growth of generative AI.
Generative AI is designed to create new content from patterns learned in existing data. It can generate text, images, audio, video, and other forms of content that may be difficult to distinguish from human-created work.
In simple terms, generative AI models learn to predict and produce new content in a requested format. Examples include ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Gemini.
